On the War on Want website they have an interesting article with Suhasani Singh who works for an Indian NGO called Cividep. Cividep provide War on Want with information about the pay and conditions of workers producing clothes for UK retailers in Bangalore, India.
Suhasina has also met with the Tesco CEO, Sir Terry Leahy, but she doesn’t appear to have all that much faith in him being committed to ethical trading nor in seeing a much needed increase in workers pay.
War on Want featured in the recent Primark:On the Rack BBC Panorama programme where their Senior Campaigns Officer was interviewed.
