Hope for Justice

I have a discovered a Christian organisation called Hope for Justice that looks great.  They really seem to get the whole idea that there are some hugely unjust people in this world doing terrible things and we need to take action to stop them and protect those they are trying to take advantage of.  Here is an excerpt from their website:

Today, slavery is rife throughout the world – in fact as you read this two children per minute are being sold. Modern slavery (as it is termed) takes many different forms: bonded slavery, forced labour, forced marriage, domestic slavery and human trafficking for the means of sexual exploitation. Slavery means that a person is abducted, sold or kept against their will; their freedom and human rights are denied them; usually cruelty and violence is employed to beat them into submission, along with threatenings and intimidation.

It reminds me, amongst other things,  how careful I need to be to ensure that I know how and where my clothes are being made and that absolutely no child labour is being used.

Take a look at the website: www.hopeforjustice.org.uk There are some good stories and case studies there.

On November 8th they are organising an event at the NEC called The Stand, it looks fascinating and there are some good speakers lined up.  See www.hopeforjustice.org.uk/thestand for more info.  Maybe I’ll see you there.
