Today I have written to La Redoute to ask them whether they are at all concerned with the welfare of the workers who produce clothes for them. There is nothing on the La Redoute website about fair or ethical trade which is pretty unusual nowadays. They are not members of ETI (Ethical Trading Initiative) either although perhaps since they are a french company it is not relevant. I do not know if there is a french equivalent.
I have asked them if they are able to guarantee that no children have been involved in producing garments for them. Lets see what they say – I shall post their response on this site.

I was wondering the same thing and found this on their website
Ethical Labour Policy
La Redoute is committed to observing the Standards of the International Labour Organisation and require its suppliers to commit themselves to the principles of its Group’s Suppliers’ Charter, which is aimed at the protection of social, employment and human rights.

I’m not sure what that means in real terms though
